A Great Run for A Great Cause

One of the things I LOVE about living in New Hampshire is the strong running community. There are lots of clubs, some really great race companies and of course some amazing races big and small. I like participating in races that are raising funds for a cause because I know my entry fee is helping someone. Some of my favorite local charity races include Todd's Trott, Girls Inc 5K and the St. Charles Children's Home 5K. And now there's one more I can add to my list: The Michael LoVerme Memorial 5K. The Michael LoVerme Memorial 5K celebrates the life of Michael LoVerme a loving husband, dedicated father, beloved son, brother and friend. Michael passed away after a tragic motorcycle accident this August, leaving behind his wife Kimberlee and their one-and-a-half-year old daughter, Kaylee.

Michael was an avid runner and participated in both cross country and track at Merrimack High School. His brother and friends have set up the Memorial Fund as a way to give back to the community on Michael's behalf. All proceeds from the 5K will go to the Michael LoVerme Memorial Fund and will be used to offer a graduating Merrimack Senior a scholarship and to benefit the community in other ways.

The first Annual Michael LoVerme Memorial 5K will take place at 1pm on Sunday, October 14th at Merrimack High School in Merrimack, NH. The race is a USA Track and Field Sanctioned Event put on my 3C Race Productions (a local race company that puts on some great events!), which means the course is certified, professionally timed and will be well supported. According the website the course is flat and fast and conducive to PR's. Here's a look at the elevation chart:

You can register online by clicking HERE or print and mail in an entry form by clicking HERE. Registration is $20 until October 12th and $25 on race day.

And if you're interested in simply supporting the Michael LoVerme Memorial Fund you can make donations through Paypal by following the link on the main website HERE. There is also an education fund that has been set up for his daughter, Kaylee. You can make donations to her education fund by clicking HERE.

I might not be running it this year, but I hope to make it out there to support the cause. And if you happen to find yourself free on Sunday, October 14th you should head over to Merrimack for a great race for a great cause!

If you like running for a cause and live in the New England area please share this race on Twitter and Facebook!
