Friday Finds: Garmins and grassfed goodness
Some of the items mention in this post were given to me in exchange for my honest opinion, which I have given. This post also contains some affiliate links. It was a busy week getting back into the groove of 'normal' life after a week of vacation. Between the laundry and the unpacking there were a few things that made it on to my radar this week:
Garmin Forerunner 10
I love my Garmin Forerunner 10. I like simple and it is simple. My hubby got it for me for Christmas three years ago, well he got me the Garmin Forerunner 220, but I returned it in exchange for the Garmin Forerunner 10. I know. It sounds silly. But I wanted minimal info, I've adapted more of a "run by feel" philosophy and I think it helps me perform at my best. So I just wanted one step-up from a TIMEX Ironman stopwatch and that's what the Garmin 10 is: pace, distance, elapsed time and calories if you want to see it. So even though I don't rely on my Garmin a ton during runs, it was kind of disappointing when I pulled it out of my bag last week to find the band had come off. Thankfully, Garmin contacted me and offered to send a replacement band! And now it's back to new! If you're in the market for a simple GPS watch and your a no-frills, run by feel kind of person like me then this is your watch.
Stonyfield Grassfed
This week Stonyfield sent a shipment of their newest products: their 100% Grassfed, whole milk yogurt and their Greek, whole milk yogurt. Both are outstanding, but the 100% Grassfed yogurt is kind of a revelation. It tastes so good. Seriously, the vanilla and plain flavors taste like they are straight from the farm. And if you've ever had milk straight from the farm (there's a great local farm nearby where you can buy grassfed, raw whole milk depending) then you know it has a taste that you just don't get off the grocery store shelf.
The Stonyfield 100% Grassfed yogurt has that taste. All organic cows are required to pasture graze for a minimum of 120 days per year, but Stonyfield 100% Grassfed yogurt is sourced from cows that exclusively eat grass all year round and that's wher you taste the difference. If you haven't seen it in the dairy section of your local grocery, put in a request with the dairy manager and many times they will order it in for you.
Prana Cali Dress
I'm a sucker for summer dresses. When I packed up my bag to head to Florida last week I think I had six dresses laid out and had to narrow it down. Making the cut was the Prana Cali Dress, which they recently sent. There are few things more gratifying that wearing a summer dress when you know the temps are freezing back at home. The Prana Cali dress is made of a super soft, stretchy material and the higher waist detail make it very flattering.
The built in bra makes it a toss-on and go kind of dress, which is perfect for vacation or every day wear. I love the contrasting color of the straps and the dress is also part of Prana's Blue Sign Certified product line, apparel that has been certified by the textile industry showing a high standard of environmental health and safety in the manufacturing process. Add to that the fact that the material is recycled and you really can't go wrong. You can nab the perfect summer dress of your own at Prana.com and get 15% off with the discount code PSSS16RFG.
Dr. Cool Recovery Wraps
A few weeks ago the inside of my calves got really beat up during a snowshoe race. The tight switchbacks meant that my snowshoes were banging into my legs with each turn. I used Dr. Cool Recovery Wraps to try and aid the recovery process and reduce some of the swelling. The wraps are an easy way to ice-and-go, meaning you don't have to balance a bag of peas with your leg up. You don't have to be injured to use them, I like to use the wraps after long runs as well on my knees to help reduce any inflammation. You can find the wraps HERE.
Stroller Runs
I had the chance to test out the latest jogging strollers from some of the top stroller brands for Women's Running Magazine. It was fun to compare all the different features and experience the performance of each stroller. You can check out my full review HERE.
