Friday Finds: Peak Performance

This post is not sponsored but does contain affiliate links. Thank you for your support!  I'm always on the lookout for new gear or products that will compliment or enhance my running. I'm not a professional athlete by any means, but I like being competitive and want to run my best. Which means treating my body and mind in the best possible way. Here are some products that are on my radar this week that help me do just that:

EnduroPacks Spray

EnduroPacks recently sent me a sample of their electrolyte spray to try out. I've been using it for about a week now and so far I'm a fan. It's hard to say if there's a performance boost or if I'm "more hydrated" than I normally would be. But I like that there's no sugar and no sugar substitutes. It has a simple ingredients list:  And with a subtle lemon taste it adds a little bit of flavor to my water.

Enduropacks also sent me their Daily Multi-Vitamin with Green Food. I've taken it daily and haven't noticed and physical differences. But it's a great way to round out your diet. I already use a greens mix Powder in my smoothies in the morning, but the multi vitamin addition is nice. I'm not sure I'd purchase the multi vitamin again, but I'll definitely be restocking my electrolyte spray once it runs out.

Roll Recovery

I've been tracking the shipping on this bad-boy because I've been so eager to get it. There are times when you just can't get the pressure you  need with a foam roller or a stick. I find this to be especially true of my calves, it's just hard for me to apply the pressure I need to workout some of the adhesions in the muscle an fascia. This tool has been amazing. Money well spent. And I don't have to get down on the floor and do it. I can sit right on the couch and roll. Perfect.

Inov8 Gaiters

invoke gaiters for snowshoe racing

I kicked off the snowshoe racing season last winter with a few additions from my previous season. This year instead of renting, I know own my own pair of Dion Snowshoes which, if you're in it for the longhaul are a great investment. I also purchased the Inov8 Race Ultra Gaiter which fit like a little protective glove over your shoes to keep snow out. They are highly breathable, easy to put on and stayed put during the race.

Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator

I've been using the Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator for a couple years now. I used to just drink it after long runs, but now I'm using it for immediate post-run rehydration and refueling after pretty much all my runs. Making sure I have this within 15 min of walking through the door makes a huge difference in the way I feel the remainder of the day. I tend not to feel as tired or as endlessly hungry, especially after hard efforts and long runs.

Mind Gym

I can't say enough about Mind Gym  by Gary mack. Reading it before my marathon in 2014 changed the way I approached running and racing and helped me let go of a lot of "performance" hang ups I had. I've gone back this week to re-read a couple chapters and am finding it just as applicable. If you've hit a running plateau or find yourself continually falling short of your potential I would highly recommend this book to help you get the breakthrough performances you're hoping for.
