Janji Review and $25 Giftcard Giveaway

Sometimes running is more than just running. Sometimes we are compelled by something outside ourselves. Something that moves us, pushes us when we feel like quitting, gives us a reason to keep going when we want to stop. Running for another. It's a powerful concept, one that many people grab on to as they support various causes and individuals. The guys who founded Janjiwent one step further: not only can you run for another in whatever race choose for whatever cause you support, now even the clothes you run in can benefit those in need thanks to the line of running apparel from Janji. Mike and Dave, both avid runners, started Janji in the Spring of 2012 with the mission to harness the philanthropic power of the running community not just on race day, but every day by providing running apparel that would “give back.” Janji, which means “promise” in Malay, donates a portion of every sale to Water.org who are providing on-the-ground solutions for drinking water shortages around the world.

When they asked if I'd be willing to try a few items from their fall line I was of course thrilled. Last year they sent me the "Tanzania Tight" and those tights proved to be the ones that kept me warm while training for a spring marathon during our Polar-Vortex winter.

This year they've updated the tight with a great graphic print, which I absolutely love. They are the same comfy fabric: a polyester and spandex blend that has a fleecy, soft feel on the inside.

The fit of the tights is pretty fantastic, I love the wide waste band and noticed that the rise of the tight is a bit more than on the previous version, which I prefer. Overall this tight has my vote again. Seriously, I'll be living in these once the weather dips into the 30's. I've already had a chance to wear them a few times on some chillier runs and they have performed well: they wick sweat, keep my legs warm and look awesome. I know that they will be my go-to tight for this winter.

At $74.oo they are priced similarly to other running tights, but part of that money goes directly to Water.org to help provide three years (3 years!!) worth of clean drinking water for a person in Tanzania. If you're going to spend the money, it might as well count towards something. You could have a big impact simply by purchasing a cute pair of tights.

Janji also sent me one of the new t-shirts from their fall line. The shirt is buttery soft, the perfect length and really flattering. I loved the contrasting stitching on the bottom hem as well, it really popped. The material (which is super soft) is a polyester, cotton blend and does a good job wicking moisture. I wore it recently on a couple warmer-than-usual October runs and found it to be pretty near perfect. Normally I don't like to wear t-shirts when I run (weird I know) I prefer a tank top or a long sleeve depending on the weather. But this is a tee I'd wear regularly because it is so light weight. And part of the $37.00 price tag is going to provide a weeks worth of clean water for someone here in the United States.
