Countdown to Race Day

I have two more days 'till my first race! I'm feeling pretty confident that the training I've done will kick in and I will hopefully come close to my goal of finishing 4 miles in 30 minutes, which means running at my goal race pace of 7:30min/mile. I'm relying on that race-day adrenaline to kick-in and give me the little extra that I will need to run at that pace for four miles. It is not going to be easy.

I took a rest day yesterday and will run four miles at an easy pace today. On Friday I will get out and do "striders" which are short bursts of 100m to 200m where you gradually increase your speed until you are all out sprinting at the end. Striders are a great way to remind your body what it means to "go fast."

And then Saturday is the race. I think I am more excited about my cheering squad of Mark and Sophia, than I am about running the actual race. I'm pretty sure that thinking of them at the finish line will provide the extra boost I need to reach my goal.
